Austin, Texas, Adopts a WUI Code

November 2020. Austin–one of the fastest-growing communities in the country–is the first major city in Texas to adopt a wildland-urban interface code. The new regulations will take effect in January 2021 and will require wildfire-resistant building materials on new construction in areas of wildfire hazard.
