November, 2017. CPAW team member Ben Yellin was invited to guest lecture at the University of Colorado Denver, Master of Urban and Regional Planning program. Ben introduced the planning students to the basics of wildland fire behavior, heat transfer, and risk to the built environment and discussed tools and strategies when planning in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). The students also participated a WUI planning scenario to highlight the challenges and opportunities encountered while planning in a wildfire prone environment.
