Building community capacity is an essential component of CPAW. We help practitioners and decision makers deepen their understanding of wildfire planning by offering workshops, trainings, and webinars. We highlight tools, share methods, and focus on technical topics such as development standards, fire behavior, landscape regulations, and fire risk modeling. Our events encourage interaction and learning among land use planners, fire practitioners, elected officials, and other industry professionals.
In addition, we provide day-long training workshops for community leaders interested in land use planning and wildfire risk reduction. We cover fundamental topics relevant to both disciplines including wildfire science, land use planning basics, and WUI management. In some cases, professional education credits are available such as American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certifications.
The CPAW Team also attends and presents at conferences and workshops throughout the year. Explore presentations and additional resources related to planning and the wildland urban interface.
