CPAW and the Big Sky Fire Department present the Building for Wildfire Summit in Big Sky, Montana on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Registration is now closed.

The Building for Wildfire Summit is an opportunity for developers, contractors, architects, landscapers, local businesses, and others in Montana’s construction industry to learn from wildfire experts and researchers about best practices for building homes to wildfire-resistant standards. In addition, community leaders from other mountain resort towns will discuss lessons learned and opportunities for mitigating wildfire risks alongside increasing home development. The Summit is now a 6-hour Certificate program for all architects, regardless of state licensing.

Key objectives include understanding how homes ignite, identifying the most vulnerable components of a home to wildfires, and identifying best practices and lessons learned from other resort towns working to build wildfire-resilient communities.

The event is free and open to the public. Lunch and snacks will be provided. 


AIA Credits Available!

The Building for Wildfire Summit is now a 6-hour Certificate program for all architects, regardless of their state licensing, and is AIA-approved for 6-hours of HSW/LU. To receive the certificate, architects must:

  1. Register for the event (free); and
  2. Register for course credit at ($10 processing fee); and
  3. Sign-in at the event.

After attendance at the event, architects will receive a Certificate of Completion by email. Transcripts for AIA members will also be updated automatically. Certification is available thanks to a partnership with Carradine Architects.
