February, 2018. CPAW team members presented at the annual International Association of Fire Chief’s Wildland-Urban Interface Conference in Reno, Nevada. The presentation, titled Building Costs and Risk Modeling to Reduce Wildfire Risk, summarized preliminary outcomes from two recent CPAW research projects.

The first was presented in partnership with Dr. Steve Quarles of the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, and describes the cost of constructing a wildfire-resistant home.

The second was presented in partnership with Greg Dillon of the U.S. Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) and described CPAW and RMRS’s work to develop risk assessments at the community scale in order to help prioritize wildfire mitigation strategies.

Both presentations can be viewed here.
